Tom Fitzgerald Reflects on Exploring Childhood
Tom Fitzgerald, Principal of the lower school at The Colorado Academy, was a central figure in the Exploring Childhood project. He both taught Exploring Childhood himself and disseminated the curriculum as regional coordinator of Exploring Childhood for the 8- state Rocky Mountain region. He worked closely with the EDC staff in refining and improving the curriculum.
" ... I used to stand on my desk in the first or second class when I would be teaching Exploring Childhood. The kids complained that their necks hurt from looking up and I'd say 'Think about that when you work with small children. You've got to get down on their level'. ..." (13 minutes, color)
